KTM passenger train traveling from Tanjong Pagar station to Johor Baru, Malaysia.

Video of this train passing the Stagmont Link rail track and road crossing.

Dark clouds were hovering above in the sky and there was a drizzle at that time when this video was made.

I hope that dismal weather condition would not affect your viewing pleasure.

  • why the train so short

  • it is not profitable to run a long train that has many empty seats.

  • Unfortunately, this train service has been shortened to serve as a Shuttle Service between Tg. Pagar and Johor Bahru. It runs early in the morning for the Malaysian workers to come into S'pore by skipping the jam at the Causeway. This train runs only in the morning daily. Before this, this train service was until Kluang, Johor but due to ack of passengers and demand, KTM decided to shortened it.

  • thank you for the information.

  • @budakPERASAN Thank you. Please post it on YouTube so that everyone can enjoy your video.

Can you please explain: "... he has to be in the office to warn the other gate that the train has passed by the crossing." What other gate?

    What do the levers do?

I am a "GREEN" person and try to do things as efficiently as possible.

To cause traffic the least wait, I would wait on the opposite side of the levers from the train to be ready to raise the gates as early as possible.

    Thank you.

  • @robertgift Hmm, however standing at the levers is too near to the track which is not safe and yes, he has to be in the office to warn the other gate that the train has passed by the crossing. I shall record the whole procedure for you soon. That would be better. Can you send me your e-mail address?

  • @budakPERASAN Thank you.

Then stand AT the levers. As soon as the train has passed, restore the levers to their previous position and then walk over and press the gate UP button.

What do you mean: "... warn the other gate that the train has passed"?

Also it takes too long for the traffic signal to go from Red to Green. But drivers ignore the traffic signal.

I wish the whole sequence of operation was videoed.

  • @budakPERASAN No.

Be standing AT the button. As soon as the train passed, press button to open gates and get traffic moving.

Every second thatraffic waits, multiplied by the number of vehicles waiting, reveals how much fuel is wasted and pollution created.

THEN continue over and change semaphores. Is that what the levers do?

  • @robertgift He would not be able to do that. He has to be in the office to warn the other gate that the train has passed. Once it has passed, he will then switch the levers back, one that controls the semaphore and the other which is a safety lever that must be switched back to its normal position so that the barriers can be open. Then he will press the button to open the gates.

  • Guy is too slow to open gates.

(I'd be waiting athe switch when the train passed to open the gates.)

First open gates and letraffic proceed.

    THEN move the other levers.

Do the levers operate semaphores to signal the train thathe gates are closed?

    Thank you.

  • WOW! Those gates open fast!
