Here's one of my favourite blues songs of all time... Joe Bonamassa's version of 'Blues Deluxe'.

Took me two weeks to get this down, some of the individual licks were surprisingly difficult at first. I don't usually like learning blues songs note-for-note, but this one is pretty much a bible in terms of awesome blues licks, many of which I have actually incorporated into my own playing, as well as sweet volume swelling technique (I use that a lot these days too).

I recommend learning this song, it really helped me with 12/8 as well (which I haven't explored too much in the past). The epic bit in the middle is damn satisfying too.

Hope I haven't killed it too much.

  • men!! nicce fucking tone!!! how do you set your gear to play the smooth part at the begining of the song??!

    cheers

  • @rockboy8812 Hey dude, I'm not exactly sure what I did back then, but I know I used the bridge pickup, rolled off on the tone and volume controls and had the gain set quite high for the later parts of the song. It might have been coil tapped too, but probably not.

  • got tabs for that m8? me likes a lot^^

  • @KhaliddenAtrache I've got tabs for most of the licks in my folder, but honestly, it'll help your playing more if you slow it down and work it out for yourself mate!

  • Hey dude awesome awesome awesome cover. Don't worry about JilaX - yes, you're slightly off on a lot of the licks, but it's the those are tough licks to nail exactly and it's the blues, so you should have your own feel. I think it'd be worse if you DID get everything exactly in time cuz you'd lose the feel. What's most important is you're getting the language, and you're getting it pretty damn well. Keep it up!

  • Hey thanks buddy, that means a lot! I'm having a lot of fun with the blues recently...

  • Hi. Did you use the tabbook "Blues Deluxe" to learn this. GREAT JOB MAN!!!!!

  • damn you look like Gary Moore! And well played ;)

  • This is just amazing, I can work out the slow parts by ear, but how on earth did you work out the fast licks??!? Brilliant, just brillant.

  • Nice!!!! Good job!!!!

  • It`s fucking great ;)

Could you add a lesson with lick from 04:09 ? Joe`s licks are like Jesus words ;)

  • dude thats awesome, do you have this tab??

  • @KhaliddenAtrache It's also better to start using your ears as well to learn this piece. Guitarist like Jimi Hendrix never had things like tabs, it's all done with his creativity and ears. You should start trying, if you keep trying it, not only will you learn this piece, but start jamming along with it. Therefore, you deserve to be called a good guitarist. A good guitarist is one that adapts, not techniques like tapping or sweeping. That's talent.

  • hey man, how are you making these sounds at 3:28? it sounds like a violin and i hear malmsteen doing them too.

  • Nice!!!

  • wow this is incredible! so if i slow down the song a bit, wud u say that wud help me in learning a few of these licks?
