A conversation with my friend Ricky Eldridge about his friend Bruce Springsteen.
I have been a Springsteen fan since I was in the 3rd grade, some 30 years ago, since then I have gravitated to all things BRUCE. That includes my dear friend Ricky, a long time jersey shore musician with vast first hand experience of the Glory days of the Jersey Shore music scene and early memories of Bruce, which somehow I was able to prod out of him.
For as long as I remember Ricky has been an iconic figure on the Jersey shore, an innovative forward thinking visionary, visual artist and esoteric musician. Ricky has known Bruce since the Mid 60's, has hung out and hung around him to the present day. here are some of his personal memories of Bruce and the early days of the jersey shore music scene.

  • I met Bruce in Freehold while I lived in Stonehurst! My friends and I helped put the Left Foot together. My friends Patti Stoll, Animal, Jay Hudak, Rick Farrell, Harry, and a few others. I grew up and lived in Long Branch. I married a musician from Bradley Beach! I knew the Castiles, Cherubs, and we use to go to the Upstage Club, Hullaballoo! Then the Stoned Pony which was a homeland for musicians to come and play at. The funniest part was a guy we knew Danny Dum Dum ! The good old days !
