  • Hi. So sorry to hear about your dog. Still no formal diagnosis (he has been to a general veterinarian & a neurologist). The last episode was about a year ago. It seems like if we don't let him get overly excited, overheated or excrement cold he doesn't have any problems. We have been very lucky. Another Boston owner responded to my past sand reported that her dog had similar (but worse) symptoms and improved with anti seizure medication. Good luck to you and your dog! Keep in touch.

  • Did you set your dog down! Your supose to reasure them. I have boston terrier and she has them all the time! There muscules are sore from the episode, hence they cant walk very well....

  • my 3 year old boston terrier has recently started to do a similar walk to yours he arches his back and holds his legs some time they cramp up so much that he is almost walking on the front legs, they some times even go to his front leg. i thought it was just normal cramp at first but it does seem to be something more than that so im going to visit the vets. im releieved to seem that its not just my little boy with this hope your dogs are doing ok now.

Also would like to know how they are now?

  • cont'd

The vet did a thorough neurological exam and full blood work up and can't find a thing wrong with my little girl. I am leaning towards Spikes Disease also. Good luck with your little one. I have read that a gluten free diet and also homeopathic bioplasma cell salts from Hyland's have been successful treatments. I am going to try it.

  • My six year old Boston Terrier is doing the same thing. Her symptoms have changed some since the episodes first started, but I have seen her walk exactly the way your dog is walking. The first episodes she had, her legs would cramp up real tight underneath her and she couldn't stay on her feet. She would fall over. It seemed that after the cramping, she could walk, but it was just like your dog. Now, she doesn't seem to be cramping as bad but she does do this weird walk at times.
