Ohio Department of Transportation Deputy Director Rex Dickey, along with Dayton Assistant City Manager Shelley Dickstein and other officials, participated in an informational walking tour in Dayton's Aerospace Hub on October 28. The group walked along Dayton's Brown Street, a key commercial corridor connecting the Hub's south and north anchors, the University of Dayton Research Institute and Tech Town. Governor Ted Strickland named Dayton as Ohio's official Aerospace Hub of Innovation and Opportunity in September 2009. The designation helps attract public and private resources designed to grow investment and employment in aerospace and related technologies and industries. Since the designation, Ohio has also committed a $750,000 grant to the City of Dayton to support reconstruction of Brown Street in 2011.
