Best fucking interview. Nick looks so relaxed and let his defensive guard down, seeing as how Roy and HG weren't asking ridiculous questions and skipping around like many people do. They talk about serious things and still have room for laughs. I didn't cringe a bit! So thank god for this.

1:13 Sadness as an essential part of one's character: a more enlightened person might find it impossible to agree, feeling it but part of the smorgasboard of possibilitiesand never a wholistic, no matter how dominant it may seem to some, especially at earlier stages of intellectual development and the expansion of the horizon's of one's soul. Compassion and empathy, perhaps they are more wholistic, phonemically speaking.

Don't worry Nick, we forgive you. It's not like you wrote Batdance or anything.

I've always wondered what I would say if interviewed like this.. put under a microscope.. so to speak. Nick cave killed this interview.. and made me like his character even more. I would hope if ever interviewed I would have the tact and character to answer this thoughtfully. Well done nick... one of our times great minds.

despite Caves' dopiness, it's a great interview simply because Cave came out punching, and in the end realised these guys aren't idiots. It's tough being in the rock scene and being treated as a 'serious artist' because it's such a populist, pulpy, available and egalitarian art-form, but Nick cave talking simple intellectualism is alot more interesting than Sting talking about Nabakov or Tantric sex with Warnie. I mean Warnie really should have glassed the cunt.

@ShlomirBareket it was a matter of building mutual respect, which they had by the end of the interview. Nick Cave isn't a sweet guy, and he wouldn't be honest if he tried. Is he too cool, or just detached by the drug? Your criticism seems to require both.
That might as well be the dictionary definition of how to do an interview. Roy and HG asked all the right questions, clearly did their homework and came off as very charismatic. Awesome interview!

I actually think these two are the perfect people to interview someone like Nick Cave. They're laid back and humorous enough to get him to relax and dig themselves out of any lulls in the conversation (I agree totally that Roy's reaction to the smoking was inspired) but Roy also has the artistic and cultural knowledge required to remain on a similar level to Cave intellectually.
