For years now the Maasai Mara game reserve has been a major tourist attraction, a jewel in Kenyas tourism circuit crown, thanks to its diverse and rich wildlife. However, this world-famous home of the big five is now threatened by the encroachment of structures on its unique terrain. The construction of lodges within the park is now said to be affecting the breeding ground of many of the animals, including that of the black rhino which is facing the threat of extinction. Our reporter Michael Mayaka has just returned from the Mara and filed the following report.
@mytime81,well maybe the locals can move to Nairobi and get diplomas or petition to have schools built in their region, people really need to get out of their comfort zones and move around a little they'll learn a thing or two

I spent a month on a working dispatch at one lodge owned by Ole Ntutu's family, the only work the locals get is the dancing maasai who earn Ksh 100 per night. That is after they lost their grazing land to the lodges sitting on the edges of the game reserve. Chefs, housekeepers, guides etc are people from Nairobi armed with college diplomas, which the locals have not.
