Are You Holding Back? - Shelter MV

11th music video. This is crazy.

It seems that the major complaint with my last montage was that I did not add Shelter in it. Well I did not know about it at the time, so I looked it up. I was pleasantly surprised so I thank the people who kept mentioning it.

Shelter is a very good film. It had everything I want in it. The story was grounded and realistic. Nothing complex, but good in its simplicity. The characters were well-developed, non-stereotypical, and three dimensional. Even the frat boy character had depth. There were really sweet scenes that made you go "d'aaww." And best of all, there were two really good looking leads. Trevor Wright and Brad Rowe may not be stunningly gorgeous, but they are still handsome.

I struggled with finding a right music for this movie. I don't just choose random music to go with a movie. I wanna make sure that the song really captures the feel of the movie, both in lyrics and in music. When I heard of Archie's first single, I was surprised to find it actually pretty good. As I listened to it some more, that got the wheels of my head turning.

I thought that the innocent feel of the music matched the path of self-discovery and exploration that both Zach and Shaun go through. Surprisingly, the hobbies of the two guys were important as either symbols or elements of the plot so I made sure to include as much as possible, like Zach's art, Shaun's writing and the surfing. I loved on how the two seemed to inspire each other.
