They still have to pay even if the rent is allowed to be paid later. You just want the tenant to be absolved of all liability and let them pocket the cash while the bills go unpaid.
Most of these people are not asking for charity. They need a little compassion until they can become stable again. And the state doesn't do enough for the people who really need it. In Maryland, There are too many abandoned house for it to be so many homeless people. Eviction can be very devestating. Once you have been evicted its hard to find a new home, you loose all of your possesions and you are left to face the elements. Its hard to accumulate possesion when you are poor.
@deslyn615 Ok then - why should a private landlord take on these charity cases then? Surely that's the job of the State so that ALL taxpayers - yes including you - can pay for these charity cases.
The stupidest thing ever put down in written form. Alot of these people simply cannot pay their rent. Just because you cannot pay your rent, does not mean that you and everything you own is worthless. The majority of people evicted are single mom with small children. Are you telling me that a child's favorite lovey belongs in the city dump. What about a newborn's only bottles. Most landlord have lots of money and houses. These are people who have very few possessions.
Tenants Rights (funny)what about landlords who have to appear in court at least 4 times for a tenant who won't pay. Mortgages go unpaid, file fees, court costs, eviction fees, $900 for eviction crew, tenants don't have rights when the fail to pay rent. There are so many agencies willing to help tenants who can't pay it's no excuse. One thing I agree with is this the belongs should not be put out on the street, they should be taken straight to the dumpster. Landlord have to start over too.
i live in maryland. this state and its elected officials are some of the absolute stupidiest people i have ever known. It amazes me that people elect them. You get, what you elect.
