Stalin was suposed to help but sat back and let the Germans kill off as many of the Poles as possible so he wouldn't have to do it.

The man on the far right at 3:09 is my uncle Jan Chmielewski who served in the Ak with my mother as a nurse. I'm pretty sure the other four didn't make it.

@licicaviki Yes, there was German colonization. But the Eastern border of East Prussia, was the most stable German border at all, not challenged for 800 years!
-
@licicaviki There was not deliberate „Drang nach Osten this is a Nazi myth, but Germans or Austrians gained power in Eastern regions. Often these regions were mixed populated beforehand or the population was not dense enough to cultivate the land, and settlers, not only Germans, were welcome like in East Prussia. Non-German culture and language were often weakened or oppressed by German authorities, but that is nothing special. Other colonists did that same.

@Trottellumme123 Yes 30 years war has religious backround but effect was germanization of Czechs by Austrians. Czech language was prohibited on this area. After Silesian wars 1763 - Prusians do the same on Silesia and after partitions in Poland. So Drang nach Osten is just constant tendency from medieval times -Ostsiedlung on lands Polabian Slavs to German conquering of the east with Got mit Uns.

@licicaviki The history of the 30 years war is very complicated. In this battle it was not about Germans against Czechs but Catholics against Protestants. 5 of the 27 nobles who were executed were Germans. Many Bohemian protestants flew to Germany and found a new home there. The Bohemians became catholics.

@Trottellumme123 It`s not true. After The Battle of White Mountain 1620 all top of Czech nobles were executed at Prague's Old Town Square. An estimated five-sixths of the Bohemian nobility went into exile soon after and their properties were confiscated. The number of inhabitants decreased from 3 million to 800,000. Before the war 151,000 farmsteads existed in Bohemia-only 50,000 remained. After 1620 started Austrian and German colonisation of Bohemia.
..."Gloria victis" ? No, think they DIDN'T ever lose, and forever ! We agree with people saying: "God bless Poland !"; but, apart from this, it is evident that the whole world owe so much, so much, to wonderful Polish people ! Think of General Anders, of Monte Cassino Heroes, of Polish Squadrons in Battle of England, think deeply of Warsaw Uprising ! Some "big" Countries should pay, should give back a lot, to dear Poland ! --- A great "Czesc !" from an Italian friend --- Alexander

Olli its right example for heroic battle !
Not war with big army , Tanks , aeroplanes...
If the rebels from Warsawa had also big army with Tanks etc. the wermacht had any chance! Why?
Because Polish soldiers fought with own hearts for own land !
Here fought also Warsaw slovaks , from Slovak unit survived only two peoples!
