Pokémon HeartGold #s01: Activating the PokéWalker

This is the first special (or side, both start with 's') episode of the Pokémon HeartGold playthrough!
In special episodes I'll be toying with things not related to progressing in the game.

In the first three episodes, we'll be playing with the PokéWalker. This is something you PEOPLE who just use the ROM for HG/SS didn't get. ;P (Unless they even have a ROM for the PokéWalker, which considering it's a pedometer really makes me lose more faith in humanity.)

Episode 1 sees us getting the thing ready and loading a Pokémon into the PokéWalker.
Also: If you turned up you volume, turn it down around 7:25. You have been warned.

Note that while you can only tie one PokéWalker to one Game Card, you can transfer gifts from a PokéWalker to ANY game card...so by cajoling it a bit you can operate 6 PokéWalkers off 1 game. :)

i lost my pokewalker :( if i buy a new one can i still use it on my soul silver? PLZ COMMENT BACK I AM DESPERATE

@eman7100 Link to buy is in the description (As of this comment they are $8.95 + $1 if you want the clip back, which I recommend). Up+Select+R at the PokéWalker menu screen can be used to force the Pokémon that was strolling back into the game. From there, the game will consider itself to have no tied-in PokéWalker, allowing you to use the new one once you get it.

it didnt work with mine i dont no why but so far no matter how close or how many time i try i dosent work :(

@JaneGirl367 There shouldn't be anything on the screen pre-activation (i.e. pulling out the tab). I'm guessing the frowny face is the icon on screen at 0:44 of this video. If so, it just needs a Pokémon put in.

@KooperKoushiro actually the frowny face happened BEFORE i could activate it so i havent even gotten the chance to activate it

@JaneGirl367 Not sure if it's a frowny face or not, but an initialized (i.e. right after you activate it) PokéWalker has kind of a " :| " face. If that's the case, it's ready to receive a Pokémon from the HG/SS game.

If you already put a Pokémon in there, and the Pokémon is making the frowny face, then I'm afraid I've never seen that happen.

@JaneGirl367 A frowny face on the Pokémon's emoticon bubble? I don't think I've ever seen that...

Try pressing the center button and see if you get Watts or an item? Usually that's what the emote bubbles indicate.
