http://www.financialradio.co.uk Sweet Scottish singer Amy MacDonald chats to Giles McMullen about
gigging, being a modest Scot and her advice for those wanting a career
in music.
On her choice of career, Amy laughs that this is Plan B - she
originally had a place at uni and music was just a way to pass the
time on her gap year.
"I love gigging," she says firmly, "I get really excited about it."
But what's Amy's weird ritual before she goes on stage?
It''s clear this girl is grounded, she talks energetically on the
"ghoulish side of human nature" - that's watching reality TV shows to
you and me. "I can think of nothing worse than to see someone's heart
being broken by Simon Cowell live on telly."
Her parting advice to all budding songwriters out there: "Keep at it,
write songs, do gigs. If you just want to be famous though, go on Big
Brother."
This part along with part 2 comprise, in my opinion, an excellent interview. Mr. McMullen's questions are cogent and well-stated, and (now this is rare) he actually seems to listen to the answers before propounding any further queries. Ms. Macdonald, for her part, seems to answer each question directly and thoroughly (and Mr. McMullen allows her enough time to finish her answers). All in all, very enjoyable and quite well done. Thanks.
