I know this question was 6 months old... but hey...

He was drafting the car infront. This basically removed all downforce from the front end. When he crested the hill the downforce on the rear wing combined with the torque of the engine, and upward enertia of car, pulled the nose up. When the nose came up high enough it got cought by the air (air started flowing under the car) which pulled it up and over.

Cars are shaped like a wing, enough air flowing under it and it will fly.

they actually removed that hill because it was happening so frequently. my dad raced le mans 24 hr in 94' on that track. im pretty sure it was 94 i dunno maybe it was rolex series, he remembers da hill

@atsernov Pretty much what happened to Mark Webber at Le Manns, twice at the same race meeting in the Mercedes CLK's. He managed to destroy 2 cars on the same crest.
