Here's a good example of an advertiser trying to be all things to all people: First, the New York Daily News offers up Sydney Biddle Barrow, the "Mayflower Madam," telling her story between its covers. Then, J.R. dishes on what's wrong with TV's Dallas...and the Daily News covers pre-nups...and lonely singles. But hope you're wearing your neck brace now, because...HEY KIDS! When you're done reading the Mayflower Madam's exploits, don't forget to read the comics! Oh, and Phil Simms gets thrown into the mix at the end. By this point, we're no longer sure whether this is a TV commercial, or just some kind of wacky 1980s free-association exercise.
Mayflower madam is actually a really good book. Although she was running an escort service her foundation and management skills are really inspiring.
