as a new yorker, i dont think anyone could possibly top the awe-inspiring and poetic beauty in the london 2012 ceremony. no matter how many fireworks or drummers you've got, britain shared with the world a meaningful story displaying their national pride of the country they've become. whats better than that?

Loved the Olympics, but didn't really get into the spirit of the games until the opening ceremony. But safe to say, London 2012 definitely made me proud to be BRITISH! Eagerly wait the next Olympics! Good job guys!

I think its a mixture of sadness, poignancy and nostalgia that the song drums up. Certain parts of the song touch the soul in such a way, it's almost unearthly.

It must be about a year ago the flame arrived on our shores, I didn't really "get it" until the flame came through Edinburgh. I won't forget 2012 quickly, its up there with my favourite years!

well said, the entire ceremony was stunning from start to finish... Danny Boyle is a genius ! not ashamed to admit (Im a Londoner) that I cried buckets.. it was truly breathtaking, the music, the lighting, the Queen !!.... it may not have had the initial impact of Beijing, but it was sooo much better
