Wes Anderson referred to Starevich in a featurette for his stop-motion feature film "Fantastic Mr. Fox"...it's easy to see why Wes was intrigued and inspired by master stop-motion artists such as Starevich and Willis O'Brien.

As for Starevich's "nationhood", he was of Polish heritage, born in Moscow and moved to Paris after the Russian revolution. Poland, Russia and France should all be proud of him!
