  • I would like to point out, this is not original to Digi-key, Graffiti Research Lab came up with the idea of sticking LEDs on coin cells, then adding magnets and sticking them on buildings. This is basically the same, minus the magnet.

  • Thank you for your comment. Digi-Key does not author this project as being original as it was created with the spirit of the holiday in mind. This novel concept has been designed and initiated by many and Digi-Key applauds their efforts.

  • Would it work if I soldered ribbon cable to the LED legs and then touched the cable to the right ends of a AA battery?

  • You would need to use two AA batteries in series. Stack one battery on top of the other or you could use Digi-Key cell holder SBH-321AS-ND, this has a builtin switch and would provide the 3 volts needed to turn on the LED.

  • The battery is a large mass and it takes a lot of hear to solder to a battery, plus you need to be careful not to damage the battery by over heating it. I would suggest staying with the electrical tape.

  • how long do these little lights last? that looks really fun, but will they burn out in like 2 days?

  • After 2 days it does start to dim. After 4-5 days it drops off considerably. Thanks for viewing.

  • f'ing downs baby

  • Or you can get a string of led light at home depot for $6 and comes with 50 led's. And they are 5mm and electric.

  • Yay! Thanks!! I kept trying to light my LED with a AA battery, but it was starting to frustrate me. I have so many wires and resistors and even a bread board, but all I needed was this battery... wow... I feel dumb. LOL thanks!

  • @ifreerun95 Well, unless Graffiti came up with the idea 25-30 years ago, they don't deserve a whole lot of credit either. Any hobbyist or technician who's worked with LEDs and coin cells has probably done this at one time or another, just to test the cell (or the LED). (But no, we weren't in the habit of sticking them on walls.)

  • Shut uuuuuupp

  • It's Toby Flenderson from The Office!

  • VERY EXPENSIVE OPTION, BUT FUN

  • This was nice :) it can also be used for computer case mods xD thank you :)

  • Okay, sorry about the confusion, I had thought Digi-Key was saying it was original to them in the title by saying "Engineered by Digi-Key". My mistake.
