Telkom Kenya's new CEO Mickael Ghossein sat down with KTN's Larry Madowo and reopened the
debate on number portability, in stark disagreement with rival Safaricom which insists
the service is expensive and pointless.
The new CEO who comes from Orange Jordan also said he wants to propel Orange Mobile to position two or even first in the market. He however denies that the operator has begun a fresh price war with its 8 shilling per minute cross-network offer.
I have a 'broadband' connection with Orange in Kenya. The speed promised (and pre-payed for !! ) is a minimum of 1mb/ps. It is usually no more than 0.25. When I complain it goes back to 1mb for an hour and then reverts to the slower speeds. When tested, the line shows that I'm often connected to a shared Safaricom server in Nairobi. If Orange want to get ahead in Kenya, all they need to do is to stop lying like most of the rest of the population. As it is, Orange in Kenya are just a con.
