It's impossible to top the score that Santaolalla provided for this wonderful film.

I chose this scene to re-score for the grandeur of the setting and for what I think is a meaningful moment in the emotional journey of the main characters.

The composition is set mainly for string orchestra and harp, but there are touches of brass and timpani in the climactic moments.

The Motorcycle Diaries (2004)
Directed by: Walter Salles
Original Music by: Gustavo Santaolalla
This scene re-scored by: Blake Ewing (copyright 2010)

  • @jeremysmola thanks!

  • that's a nice piece of music.

  • @fatmanreturns yes, that's a classic and a great compliment! "the falls" from that score is one of my favorites. thanks for the listening and for the kind words.

  • I love it! There are some moments that remind me of Ennio Morricone's score for "The Mission"... which isn't at all a bad thing. If you haven't heard it, you definitely should.

    Anyway, good job!

  • @thepianolovingman i use logic pro on mac to score the scenes. you can export from there with only your audio track. that's one way... there are others. if you're wanting to score a scene with sound/dialogue, using deleted scenes that weren't previously scored is a good resource sometimes. hope that helps.

  • how do u take out the music/ where do u find this stuff please
