@RyanLangz I have a friend who purchased a PC to do his own car. He kept trying new things and heavier compounds, but said he was not getting results. After I inspected his work and took paint thickness measurements, I determined he was indeed getting results and removing substantial amounts of clear coat, but his defects were so severe that the few that were left were beyond polishing out. Expect the first time you do your car for it to be more severe than you anticipated.

The Porter Cable 7424 we used in this video coasts around $150, and can be found at many online suppliers. Options to this machine would be the Griot's Garage Dual Action Buffer, and the Meguiar's G110 Dual Action Buffer. Any of the 3 can be considered the best DA buffers on the detailing market, use similar backing plates, and can use the same foam pads and polishes. Hope this helps!

how much did one of those buffing machines cost you?
What is the difference between polish and wax? I thought wax removed swirls when using a buffer?
If not, then im guessing if I wash my car, and then wax it, the swirl marks will still be there but just under the wax? That would suck... =(

Pretty much. Polish is an abrasive meant to remove the top layer of paint to reveal fresh, un-swirled paint. It has no protective properties. It requires mechanical power to work.

Wax has no abrasive properties, and has some limited filling abilities. Wax will help reduce the appearance of swirls for a little, but they will lurking under any Last Step Process (LSP) until the finish is polished and corrected. It requires no power input to work as it is meant to sit upon the surface (hence, never rub wax into the paint as you can mar and RIDS the paint).

However, the terms "wax" and "polish" are used quite freely in over-the-counter products. This is due to habit and because most people who use such products are not familiar with the correct terminology, and tend to use the same stuff they have been using, many times with good results. But they may not be either a wax or a polish ;)

how long did it take you fully polishing/correcting and waxing with the pc7424 which i have and am still trying to master . ive heard most compact 2-4 door cars can take upwards of 8-12 hours just in polishing/waxing/washing alone ... is this right ?

12 hours is typical for more simple jobs. Like anything, there is a learning curve, and your times will improve with practice. But focus on achieving the results desired rather than the time. Once you get the technique down, things will speed up considerably.
