I do see the reason for reading up on the meanings, but if this is done (it is not a prequisite for some...) I can't see why a white guy cannot have a Jap oriented tat and vice versa. Look at London to see many influences from the world over.
Dude, if you are Jap, then take it as a compliment. This white guy may even have read more about YOUR heritage than you!

People these tatoos are not mainstream Japanese but are associated with the underworld. Gangsters, low lifes get them and really if you're interested in Japanese culture and get these tatoos you may as well never come to Japan. You will be outcast and people will want nothing to do with you. Over here its not cool or trendy to get them. If you want to come over to Japan DON'T get them.

To be more precise, Irezumi (traditional japanese tattoo) is more or less feared then frowned upon, simply because of the possible trouble it may bring along with it. Organized crime.

no thats not a knife lol.. Its a shader needle its a hole bunch of little needles together this one is flat as you can see but they do come in two shapes flat or round round is for most outlines and flat are for the shading part
