Hard Sun LP original Gordon Peterson, covered by Eddy Vedder

From the album 'Big Harvest' (1989) Gordon Peterson with his collective 'Indio' perform this iconic tune, covered by Eddy Vedder for the soundtrack of the hit movie 'Into the wild' (2007). This is the un-remastered original version of the piece from the LP released in '89.

The accompanying photography is my own, from Southern Ontario where Gordon grew up and wrote his music. I hope you enjoy both.

Gordon, if you're watching and are away from home, I hope you especially will enjoy this tribute to your song. I think I speak for a great many when I say that I hope you'll return with another masterpiece, cheers..

Ah, I love the sound of a crackling LP..Really miss it...who said that CD's were progress? It's was a mistake. It was put out just to save money over vinyl. No progress, just the same old story. Money, money, money...

This is just a wonderful wonderful song! I am a fortunate owner of both the LP and CD versions - and every song on this production is a gem! Gordon Peterson is up there in the night sky as a blazing star of integrity.

I got that link working for this song. How did you come across this unmastered version. It's amazing how much they enhanced in the studio. But with the likes of Joni Mitchell you know something extraordinary would happen. If they made a Lord of the Rings style of story in Canada...Joni would be one of the Wizard/Earth Keepers.

Incidentally, did you live very close to Gordon? And like did you catch any of his shows when his music was just coming out?
