Right. According to Ki Hajar Dewantoro, Indonesian language is mainly derived from Riau Malay dialect, but has been modified, added, or subtracted according to the period of time so that language can be easily used by all Indonesian ethnicity. As time goes by, the modern Indonesian language is influenced by Dutch, French, English, Arabic, Sanskrit, Latin, Spanish, Greek, Chinese and many more.
No grammar usage had been modified-- it only followed the trend and era. Actually, the basic grammar It is still the same way as Riau Malay usually used. Most of the Verbs, Prepositions, Conjunctions, are also purely Malays. Greetings, like "Selamat Pagi", "Selamat Siang", "Terima Kasih", and 95% of phrases of sharing gestures and expressions are still Malay. The dialects is actually almost the same.
Not to forget, the literature, poem style ... most of them are Malay literature trend too.
What make it so different between Malaysian Malay and Indonesian are usually the SLANG-words, YOUTH-trend phrases. EXCLAMATION words (actually also based on the trend). I have read several writings using official Bahasa Malaysia and Bahasa Indonesia. It is trully 90% similar. Most of the difference is only Foreign-derived words. Malaysia tends to use the word closer to English-sound. Indonesia tends to use the Dutch-sound. Just see how Indonesian sings the ALPHABET ... That's Dutch style.
@rilham2new actually I'm talking about words, not grammar usage, which had been modified and influenced by foreign words. But the rest, I agree, is almost the same with Malay.
thnx for replyin and its really nice song even i don't understand a single word :) i listen to one Indonesian band called Ten2Five.. some of their English songs
