This is related to 2001 Chevy Malibu I hopped in and it would not start. Sounded and acted like it was out of gas, or the fuel pump was bad, or there was no spark to fire the plugs. I googled for like 2 hours and found a solution, tried it and it worked! Turn the key to the "On" position for 10 - 15 minutes, turn it to the "Off" position for like 5 seconds (In the video I said 5 minute, but did not realize how PISSED OFF I was At CHEVY)... It worked. Second video was after the 11 minutes I waited, turned off for 5 seconds and then it started...
Peace Out,
Tom
at 0:40 if u notice the idiot lights are on and the gauges are working.. it will start at this time...it's when the gauges won't work and the idiot lights don't come on only the theft light stays on or blinks

if ur idiot lights come on the car should start .. if they don't and only the theft light comes on then u need to do this emergency start routine which stops working after doing this a number of times.... if the theft light comes on put the key in ON sometimes for only a few seconds until the light goes out then take the key out and put it back in turn the key to ON again the idiot lights should light up and the car will start..do not replace the fuel pump that's not the problem

this will stop working and if u don't want to do this every time u have to start the car ur best bet is to have a remote starter system installed with a passlock II bypass module otherwise it will keep on failing to start.. GM knows the system is defective but only recalled their expensive makes like cadillac, yukon etc to fix it

You sir, (SparkyMan777) have made my day... My year, my decade. This worked. Thank you so much. I was stranded in a grocery store parking lot on a Sunday night, so low on funds that I couldn't afford to spend what little I had on a tow, let alone, repairs. I waited 10 minutes. The 'Theft' light promptly stopped blinking & then it went solid. I turned it off, then it fired right up on my next attempt. I found your video using Google... "engine turns no start malibu". God Bless you!

Common problem with the GM's pass lock but it can be bypassed. So it want leave you stranded in a dark parking lot waiting ten min.

Sparkyman777, thank you. I found this in 2 minutes of googling and it solved my problem! The only difference was my Anti-Theft light was flashing... and right at 10 minutes it stopped flashing for 5 seconds then turned off. Turning off the key and back on after 5 seconds worked like a charm! Thanks!
Fernado406 --- YES. Mine did that too. I oftten wondered what good the antitheft system was because the light was on while I was driving down the road.
