It's not news at all that Israel funded Hamas in its inception as a religious aid organization that would provide an alternative to the secular and (at the time) Communist-backed PLO. I lived there during most of the '80s, and it was well known at the time.

There are some stupid mother f#%kers posting here. While I don't agree with a lot of Israeli politics, settlements, home destruction... I agree that Israel has an obligation to protect it's citizens against an enemy that straps bombs to women & children & indiscriminately lobs rockets.
The Pali's are a product of failed attemps by it's A-Rab neighbors to destroy Israel. Without the A-Rab offensives of 48 & 67 there would be no Pali' problem. How do you make peace with those who won't negotiate?
