So Osama feels/hears big rumbling, peeks out of his room, slams the door(locking it?) and waits for someone to bust the door down before diving for his loaded automatic weapon he sleeps with? Why kill him? How about taking him alive and pulling information from him and giving him a trial? He probably had a lot of intel (countries he worked) we need on our war on terrorism.
