Agreed, our "entertainment" industry runs on 24/7 technological overload today, and yet couldn't produce a work of depth or substance if they had to. Much of it is due to the fact that the people who ran the entertainment industry in the 40s-70s came up influenced by the European Moderns, a generation driven by deeply thoughtful art in all its many forms. Today, the people who dictate entertainment have no such sophistication, turds with no taste and too much money. Their audiences are the same.

Amazing! One would think that with technology advancements programs would only improve yet television for children today has no substance. When was the last time CBS, ABC, or NBC won any awards for quality?

Why do I get the feeling that I've seen the name "Lee Polk" somewhere else?

This was one of my favorite series to watch while growing up. Back then, children's programming back in the 1960s and 1970s was so much funnier- and smarter, indeed. Today's programs for kids are too dumbed down- and dare I say too sensitized and PC . There will probably never be another Kukla, Fran, and Ollie, and that's pretty sad, to be honest.

I remember, back in the '60's, running home from school as fast as I could so I wouldn't miss The Children's Film Festival. Just what the Hell happened, anyway!?

You can always have more than one childhood.

@GypsyFairy85 Alas, no, that was never part of my childhood....
I was born in 1961 and remember Children's Film Festival. One film was about this young European boy who befriended a fish in a pond. I think the film was dubbed in English. I also remember the Radio Free Europe commercials. Yes I show my age proudly - I'm 50 now.
