  • absolutly stunning,I know nothing about small engine repair,I have the exact same one,it is unstoppable,I broke a thing that looks like a mini plumbob that has something to do with the carburator float, dont know if I should have the carb rebuilt or if I should just buy an ebay carb & have someone put it on.are parts like that still pretty available for these old machines???

  • hey man. looking good. im restoring my toro 421 1979. my question is what weight did you use for the auger gear box? i have some 85w-140 EP just kicking around. wondering if that would work? thanks in advance

  • @NGRailway I'll have to look next time I have the machine out and see what those numbers are. The 421 simply means 4 horsepower 21inch width. I'll have to check that site out I'll ley you know what i find.

  • @dualactionsurgilator @dualactionsurgilator When I was looking for parts for this machine I found that the model # 421 is only a partial number. There is/was a tag on the lower rear case that indicates the actual model. Mine is a 421-38240 Mgf. in 1979. It looks like the drum augers were used from 1980 on the 421-38250 models. If you go to Partstree. com you can see all of the Toro models listed along with diagrams. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

  • @NGRailway Very interesting. My Toro 421 is a 1978 model what year is this one? I also have a 2000 modell year Toro 824XL. Love them both nothing beats a Toro snowblower.

  • @dualactionsurgilator

This is a very early model that did not have drum augers. They are original equipment as I was albe to get the parts and operators manual from Toro.

  • thanks..

  • @canicors78

I could not get the correct Toro paint so I cheated and used either MF or IH Red Implement paint purchased from Tractor Supply. It was the closest match.

  • Nice job, what color code red is that?

  • Beautiful machine! You've done afine restoration. One question, what happened to the drum augers? These look like they are from a lawnboy model.
