Another NES-style music remake, but this time Golden Sun instead of Advance Wars.

The battle scene here took ages-- GS uses very graphically impressive, pseudo-3D sprites, making it very hard to make a devamp which looks stylistically like it and yet plausible for the NES.

8-bit style music and sprites by me, original music and game are © Nintendo.

  • @LittleMetalDrop Hey Little'etalDrop, I don't know what 8-bit composer you use, but i really want to have.

GREAT REMIX!!! really 8- bit i think

  • @SuperNintendomaniac

I use a Garage Band plugin called Magical 8-bit Plug; it can generate the basic kinds of sound waves the NES was capable of. The trick is to do the correct channel limiting (1 noise channel, 2 pulse channels, 1 triangle channel, and 1 sample channel ) to make it sound authentically primitive, and really experiment with the wave specifications to get different "instruments".

    Glad you like this!

  • Unlike other 8 bit mixes of this theme, this one actually sounds like something a composer working with the NES chipset would make out of that melody, instead of basically replacing all the instruments with 8 bit threads like the other mixes.

    Hats off to you.

  • @LordZolgonark

    Thanks!

  • @LittleMetalDrop what do you think of if I made a 8-Bit Version of Golden Sun?

  • @FireBoshy

As a playable fangame? That'd be pretty great.

  • kinda reminds me of megaman <3

  • Hmm... Hey, Lil' Metal, ever think about doing 8 bit versions of Felix and Matt's battle themes from TLA and DD? Would be nice to hear em.

  • @3of19 Actually, there have been games that do something similar. When a sound effect comes, it'll usually be played on the channel that does the background, in this case, the drums. Since the sounds GS tends to use are impact sounds, it'd work well. As such, the drum beat would cut out for a second and be the impacts and effects, but would come back in seamlessly after the effects are over.

  • @LittleMetalDrop

But isn't that one channel too many? Yeah you could use that in a cut scene or something, but this would lock you out of having any sound effects during the battle. Sounds really great though!

  • @thebrickler Happens to me all the time.

  • @HakoneDrift 8-bit pony battle themes+related videos= How the fuck did I get here.

  • I got to this via ponies. There is nothing wrong with this.
