2 Sources, 8 interference waves results from my personal ongoing process of exploring and challenging the way we perceive sound. Within the work, an ideal meeting point between the aural and the visual world unfolds unpredictable, delicate shapes and patterns. Various low frequencies are played back through 2 sound sources underneath the vessel of water. The low frequencies interfere with each other and their interactions can be seen a physical form on the surface of the water. The entire sound score is created from 4 short excerpts of States of Being, a sound painting installation made in 2007. They are then juxtaposed by 2 energetic haiku by Chris Mullender.
The work was installed at Fresh Air 2009 supported by Quenington Sculpture Trust, in collaboration with 9 other interdesciplinary artists under the artistic direction of Marigold Hodgkinson, Ana Bianchi and Roger Marsh.
Artists involved were Briony Clarke, Simao Palmeirim Costa, Rodrigo Garcia Dutra, Allie Furlotti, Alys Jenkins, John Hughes, Emily Kalies, Chris Mullender, Radek Rudnicki.
