Do the trains still run from the pier and along the esplanade??

Had a week in IofW in Spetember 09. Great weather good hotel.
I rode the rails everyday full length of the system.
I thought these old units rode a bit rough but it was a good holiday, and the trains were great.

About 8 miles between Shanklin & Ryde

I love the isle of wight. Used to come down for many long weekends and have a weeks Holiday every other year there, staying in shanklin. Everything about the place is wonderful.

The Steam Railway does meet the line. At Smallbrook Junction.

Behave!! IOWPrincessBitch, enjoy your good fortune :-)

it would be good though if the route to the south was reopened, and if the preserved steam line could be extended to meet this line
ah well, dream on...

actually thats only part of the reason.
you also have a tunnel which is too small for normal sized trains, so it was cheaper to use tube trains than build a special fleet of a new size of train.
