Coast to Coast AM - Ancient Metal Religious Books

Date: 04-02-11
Host: Ian Punnett
Guest: David Elkington

British scholar and author David Elkington spoke about the extraordinary discovery of 70 ancient metal religious books that could alter the world's view of biblical history (related article). Elkington, who was privileged to examine the lead tablets in person, said the books contain images and a form of paleo-Hebrew writing, measure about three to four inches across, many are sealed, and almost all appear to be authentic. "If they are forgeries, what are they forgeries of, because you don't forge something that's unique," he noted. Laboratory metallurgical tests confirmed they are of ancient provenance, he continued, adding that the book form of the metal documents points to an early Christian origin.

According to Elkington, these books are a major find for Christianity, as they appear to confirm the story of Jesus presented in the New Testament gospel accounts. The metal pages include iconography of 7-branched Jewish menorahs, fruiting palm trees, and eight-pointed stars, which are indicative of Messianic descriptions in the Bible, he explained. One book depicts a first century topographic map of Jerusalem, complete with a crucifix just beyond the city walls and a tomb, presumably belonging to Christ, he noted. Another tablet portrays images inspired by Palm Sunday, he added. A cursory analysis of the books seems to indicate that Jesus did exist and this is the first ever hard evidence for it, Elkington declared. He also briefly commented on the connection of this finding with the sealed books of Revelation.Coast to Coast AM - Ancient Metal Religious Books

  • is christianity looking for evidence for a christian jesus, or a Hebrew Massiah that we follow from Hebrew history through their hebrew text, Prove a hebrew Yahushua, Yeshua is the massiah then convert his name from Hebrew to our language. if the name Jesus was mentioned in hebrew text 2000 yrs ago, I would not believe the text either. today we are given the Hebrew names to understand who we refer to in our language, we do not see scholars doing that with Jesus

  • I do agree with below, Hebrew people did not know anyone called Jesus or Christ. I believe the true movement would have been supporters of the Hebrew Massiah. christianity does not give any credible evedience to Hebrew if they cannot confirm the Hebrew Massiah in Name, We must remember God Gave us the Languages of the world,& gives us information to understand in our language. for hebrew people evidence of a Jesus would not support the history of their people, language or time.

  • Its an obvious forgery because the name 'jesus' wasnt even invented until the 11th century. There is no letter "j" in the hebrew language - what a quack!

  • @AlkPacino

Yeah, I'm with you on that one. The leather testing will be important.

  • I doesn't make sense to say that if someone was intending to create a forgery, they wouldn't choose to make something so different.

I'd say that making something so different as metal books, would be a great idea for a forgery because then there is nothing to compare it to. Another more common artifact that is not genuine could be compared to existing items, and would be seen for what it is in the comparisons quite quickly,

Not possible with vastly different artifact.
