Fascinating video reconstructing the first-ever satellite brought into space, on the 4th of October 1957.

It's a six minute programme on the launching of "Sputnik" with the use of computer graphics, infographics and some archives material.

This video is made available to broadcasters by the Russian news agency RIA Novosti.

  • Sputnik was like the first spike in a climbers' boot, getting our footing up the cosmic mountain side. Regardless of politics, this is something history will never forget.

    German scientists didn't invent the first rocket. A hobbyist (skilled) made it.
