Experience, age, and back problems have evolved my technique of shoveling snow.

1.) Get a good shovel. I recommend one with an angled handle and large scoop.
2.) Shovel frequently, don't let the snow accumulate to a point where it is difficult to manage. Think divide and conquer in terms of time.
3.) Push the snow to the side and use gravity to your advantage if you have an elevated driveway.
4.) Shovel in small amounts. Lesser weight means lesser strain on your back.

  • whats the reason behind shovelling snow? if it snows more your work is lost, and if you shovel snow off the drive to get the car out, then you still have public roads that are covered in snow?

  • @bender2o right, it's much like putting on sunscreen which I hardly do BTW :)

  • A very mellow way of shoveling snow! Thanks

  • @bender2o Public roads (especially in areas where it snows frequently) are usually cleaned by the city/town. Also, where I live, if anyone hurts themselves on my snowy/icy driveway or walkway, then they can sue me for not clearing the snow/ice.

  • thanks for this. some of us move from an area that never get snow.
