Following the murder of her father by hired hand Tom Chaney, 14-year-old farm girl Mattie Ross sets out to capture the killer. To aid her, she hires the toughest U.S. marshal she can find, a man with "true grit," Reuben J. "Rooster" Cogburn. Mattie insists on accompanying Cogburn, whose drinking, sloth, and generally reprobate character do not augment her faith in him. Against his wishes, she joins him in his trek into the Indian Nations in search of Chaney. They are joined by Texas Ranger LaBoeuf, who wants Chaney for his own purposes. The unlikely trio find danger and surprises on the journey, and each has his or her "grit" tested.

I happen to already have a girlfriend, so your prior statement is moot. Of course, I'm sure you would have no idea what that's like to be in a relationship, because you're too busy criticizing people so it makes you feel better about yourself.

@Foxtrot323 A very UPTIGHT 17 year old. Sheesh, I was just kidding. I actually used a Bic Pen in a fight once. Some guy came up to me in a cafe and TOLD me to move my things from a chair. I said "there's plenty of chairs against the wall. Help yourself". He said, "I want THIS chair". I stood up and got in his face. He grabbed my neck, to which...I stabbed him in the arm with my Bic Pen. He wasn't counting on anyone fighting back, I guess. He not only bled like a pig, he squealed like one too!

@thegrinchl7 I'm not saying you can't have your own opinion (and I respect yours as a valid one). The only reason I bashed you was the fact that you came off as extremely rude and obnoxious. I don't think it's right to call her "ugly" and telling me that you'll stab me "in the heart with a Bic Pen"... I seriously think you need to come off as a more respectful person if you want to be shone respect. Criticizing me and Hailee's looks just because you didn't like her performence is futile.

@Foxtrot323 - Well, I'm sure she thinks she's good and

her family as well. Still, as someone who admires this

story and the Cohen brothers, I was sorelydisappointed.

It is one of the few westerns where the hero is not only

female, but a child. The words that come out of her are

that of an adult. Most kids were taught to read at home

using the bible and so the Portess novel took some

chances. So did the Cohen brothers. I think they failed

only because of Haileee's weak performance. Sad.

@thegrinchl7 I dont think she is the greatest actress I've ever seen on screen, far from it even. But one cannot doubt that she is off to a good start. If she keeps improving and landing increasingly better roles, she will undoubtedly have a great career ahead of her. It is premature to say that her career is over THIS EARLY on. I do indeed have my favorite actors, and she is not one of them: Clint Eastwood, Tom Hanks, Liam Neeson, Eli Wallach, etc... But I cannot deny that she is really GOOD.
