Some tree trimmers near where I live and work were cutting down a European olive tree so the company next to it could put in a security camera. I stopped to talk with them, and they asked if I wanted "the firewood." I wanted it for woodworking, but I just said "yes."
Flash forward several months, the logs have checked considerably, as I didn't know what I was doing with sealing the ends to guard against that at the time. I'm now in possession of a proper wood turning lathe (Jet 12"x20"), and a homemade resawing jig for my bandsaw, so I decided to cut the logs up into a mix of turning blanks, sized for things like bottle stopper tops, pens, screwdriver handles, and whatever else is about that size, and round.
The wood turned out to be beautiful inside.
nice wood ,but it should be slice into boards immediately, and then dried to avoid those big heat cracks
