This BBC News report, with rare amateur footage from 1945, shows how the village of Kings Langley celebrated VE day 65 years ago. The report includes interviews with residents who remember the celebrations.
@brutalferret Now there's a coincidence. I've lived in the road since I was 5 and my mum was born there and has lived in the road all but 7 years of her life. There aren't many of us long term residents left in the road, so you can probably take a good guess where in the road we are.
@marklandynut You will be interested in a video we are working on now of the childhood memories of Keith Johnson who has lived in Kings Langley for 78 years. It will be posted here when it is finished.
I live there too. Things haven't changed much. The first view has changed a bit, but the second one with the white car is almost exactly as it is now. I'll have to show this to my Mum and see what she remembers. She was at the Alexandra Road street party with her brothers, and her dad was a member of the AFS.

That's a cracking film - I live in Kings Langley and apart from the traffic the high street images then compared to now is about the same.
