A dangerous computer worm known as Stuxnet increased concerns about cybersecurity for the systems that control the nation's critical infrastructure, such as energy and transportation systems. At Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, experts are tackling the complex challenges of protecting the control systems for these vital assets. One example: PNNL is working with the Information Sciences Institute at the University of Southern California to develop a Cyber-Physical Testbed. At this distributed facility, experts nationwide could develop and test defensive solutions to protect critical infrastructure in a safe environment.
