I don't see how its the same as a e39 my e39 has the thermostat alot different than this one. :(

Some people still cling on to the myth that these cars are reliable, high quality machines. Once maybe.
-
@Jetubeb it goes around the water pump itself to seal it where the pump meets the block, if its a quality pump it should already be on the pump, use a lil bit of silicone so that it goes in smoothly

So much plastic. O.o
-
suggestions on where to buy these engine improvements?
-
WHAT A WONDERFUL... HELPFUL VIDEO.....!!! Thanks a lot

One question, I have a e46 , I wanna replace the water pump, but it has a O ring, where exactly does it go?
-
I replaced my waterpump on my e46 every year for 2 years due to the plastic impellers failing. So glad I traded it in for a Honda.

I hate when they use the plastic! GARBAGE!!!!!
there is a electronic connection on that black thermo housing, so how would the aluminum housing work in place???

@scant6681 The e36, e34, e39's have housings that do not have the electronics (some of the e39's do), they are just a housing that holds the thermostat. For the later e39 and e46's they do have the electronics and would not be able to use the aluminum housing.

@528im52 Quick question, would this aluminum thermostat housing connect the same way as the orignal plastic end connection?

@scant6681 It does for the hose-clamp style hoses, if your vehicle has the quick-disconnect hoses this housing will not work.
