True. To elaborate on andrea's post, the song is metaphorical of the darkness and loneliness one endures when spiritually transforming from their familiar corporeal existence to a spiritual existence -- one where she and the divine become one in each other. The sense of forlornness overwhelmes her like the night because she's left behind all that she'd known and been on that lonely quest to meet with her "lover".
