  • WOW!!!!!

  • I was there, a newly turned 21 year old. This match took place in Rapid City, SD in 1981, I believe. The civic center was packed and when Lewis pinned Alexeev, the roof just about caved in from the fan eruption. The rest of the USA team did pretty well too. We wrestled the USSR to a 5-5 tie, which was a huge deal back then . The Soviets were a powerhouse that no one could beat on a team basis. Chris Campbell, Lee Kemp and Larry Bielenberg destroyed their opponents. Best match I ever saw.
