...and it would be better off in the hands of a poor African kid than some obviously middle class kid with parents who can afford a normal laptop.

This is an 11-year-old speaking.
I must say, this project is indeed, quite interesting, and very useful for third world children, as it seems generally user friendly.
Say, lightweight OS? I have read that Sugar is a Linux distro. Great choice, OLPC! Now we don't have to swallow that nightmare called Microsoft Windows.
I must say, after all I've seen, I hope I could test one of these someday.

@Intellmac No way man. XP is bulky and buggy and crashes once a month. Sugar is an excellent, lightweight OS and perfect for this system.

they canceled it :( now its XO-3 or XO-1.75 or what not. no more dual touch screen! omgosh i;m so mad they canceled it..



People have a right to do what they want with their money. The great thing about charity is that it's by choice; if you want to shell out $200 to get some Nigerian kid a laptop, great for you, but you have no right to criticize the spending of others simply because you don't have the funding to do so yourself.
