  • If this technology was introduced into public places such as libraries and cafes. How would it be controlled? Somebody has to pay for the electricity. Would it be a free or would you be charged per watt or something similar.

If it were free then how would you stop the consumer from abusing this? Charging limits?

Also surely any electrical product used in an establishment such as a shop, cafe, etc, would need to be PAT tested (in the UK at least).

  • @nicfusc Great questions! Because eCoupled is intelligent wireless power, it has data transfer capabilities built right in. This means that shops and cafes have the flexibility of being able to very easily charge a fee for the electricity that is being used via a simple app on their device (think iTunes). As for safety, eCoupled technology is designed to meet international electrical safety and noise requirements.

  • @nicfusc These were many of the questions that were brought up when coffee shops and cafes started offering wireless. Many of them required either a small fee or at least a purchase to get access to the wireless network. However, most places now offer it for free. These places already offer free power just by plugging in to an outlet. The advantage to this technology, as with the wi-fi, is that it draws people in so that they can make money off of food/drink purchases.
