One of the few Popeyes distributed by Turner with original titles restored.

The first Popeye cartoon when Mercer is not available for voicing Popeye, as he was in the navy. This time Mae Questel, the voice of Olive Oyl, voices Popeye (but with a sped up voice), doing a double role.

Story by Jack Ward and Irv Dressler.
Jim Tyer, Ben Solomon and William Henning animated, Izzy Sparber supervised. Notice the great use of the "disappearing characters" technique by Tyer.
Winston Sharples and Sammy Timberg scored music.
Released on April 27, 1945 in Technicolor.

  • "Mae Questel provides Popeye's voice in this cartoon"

The same person who voices Olive Oyl and Betty Boop.

And she does it well... which is the disturbing part.

"And she does it well... which is the disturbing part."

Well, she said that "her Popeye voice was a little bit too high, but "the engineer" lowered her voice".

  • I doubt even the kids of 1945 missed the point when Olive kisses Bluto & he turns into a red-hot "rocket". lol lol

  • @jb20092009 Thank You!!! I seen that guy in an episode of little audry, then a few days ago i saw him in this popeye episode on boomerang. It has been driving me crazy, trying to figure out who it's suppost to be!

I just read online that Popeye and Olive were both voiced by the same person for this episode. Funny, I saw this one on T.V., and I didn't notice any difference.

  • Why they posted the censored tags on their mouth beacause of bad words.

  • Was that Edward Cullen at the end?
