Donald C. Johanson Ph.D. lectures about anthropology and the Australopithecus afarensis skeleton "Lucy", that he discovered and which is considered to be the oldest-known ancestor of modern humans. From Porterville College.
@daggyz1959 Do you think she is the only one of her kind? There have been a great many Australopithecines found both before AL 288-1 and after. She did have enough of the hands and feet to get a general idea of what the generic Au afarensis looked like. We can rebuild a human face from a shattered skull and get a positive ID for an individual. How much easier to get a general look at an animal?
An excellent presentation, and I certainly wish that I'd been in attendance. It's unfortunate that so many of these slides aren't shown, as I'd love ot see them in context to the speech given. I'd love to have been able to ask some questions at the end of the presentation. (Maybe get some things auographed?).
Lucy's Legacy is a powerful lecture given to us by a an astute observer of human nature. This is so worth watching to the end as Dr. Johanson speaks to our common ancestry and urges us to become aware of what we are doing to impact our future ancestry. Captivating!
@NewOrleansboii Yes, Lucy proves we walked upright before we evolved large brains.

Why are so called intelligent people so stupid?
Lucy had no hands or feet yet they gave her human hands and feet. Why?
She had no facial bones yet they have her an ape face. Why? Why not the other way around????
Even my kids question that. Are they more intelligent than adults? It seems people so desperately want to believe something that is improvable. Why?
What about the Coelacanth. First it was suppossed to be 'lucy's' ancestor. Now its a 300 million year old living fossil?
yeah

Excellent. I have many questions as well. Don't know if there is another link.
I will do the impossible to attend to any of his lectures.
