My name is Douglas Haas, and I am also a student in the HTIC Fall 2009 SP151 class. There are some what are called time-traps college students need to avoid so that we can better manage our time.
First, many people enjoy helping others with tasks. But the problem is saying yes when you really do not have the time. Being a reliable friend is fine, but not when you do not have the time. Before you respond to a request think about what a new responsibility will have on your timetable.
Second, it is best to study when you are most alert, not when you are tired when you need extra time. If you study when you are more alert you will be able to learn better. So, schedule your study time when you are at your best.
Third, they say that time flies when you are having fun. You do not need to cut yourself off from your social time with friends. Remember to balance your study time and social time. Your friends should respect your priorities and you should respect theirs.
The American inventor Thomas Edison once said, Time is really the only capital that any human being has, and the only thing he cannot afford to lose. Thank you for taking the time to listen.
