This is my 1000th Video!

Tyne and Wear Metro-1990s to 2010s Contrasts

This video has is made from two kinds of footage:
1990s footage, filmed by Simon Smiler (citytransportinfo) which has been used with his permission.
2010s footage filmed by myself

The format is 1990s footage of one area then the 2010s footage of the same area after.

It has taken about three months to select the footage, record the 2010s version and edit it all together and eventually upload it onto YouTube. I would have shown Ilford Road and Tynemouth, however the 1990s footage for these locations do now play properly and so I have had to leave these two locations out of the video.

The Surace and Underground Train Rides in the 2010s are filmed at a different angle because filming upon the train without prior permission is frowned upon and if station staff were to see a tall tripod on the train there would be hastle.

Please enjoy my 1000th video, and a massive thanks to Simon Smiler for letting me use his 1990s footage!

  • the 1990s was very cumpsy and old, but the 2010s are very quiet and way more futuristic and 21st century. the fashion is also a big change, the girls in the 10s are sexier than the 90s

  • @SuperCoolDude2014 I cant really comment on that as I was born in '96 so Ill take your word for it mate :P

  • at 1:15 the panto's as tall as the train :D They look funny around that area when they go past a 50kph :)

  • @Mike4578yt Yeah this is because the standard UK OHLE height for a level crossing is 16ft 6in so the mantographs get really tall there

  • Haha the 90's metro cars were my favourite great vid Alex

  • @Dom737800 Cheers mate

  • @CoachAlex1996 lol its true, and I wasnt here 20 years ago but im glad, we got 1080p digital cameras rather than vhs tapes, and better lookin girls lol

  • @daniakarick Cheers. Yes its very interesting, in the next 20 years there will be refurbished trains and stations so even more comarisons then

  • Nice video Alex. It's defiantly interesting to see how our daily transport has evolved in the past 20 years.

  • @citytransportinfo Hey Simon, yes that was sort of a coincidence/finding out what metrocars will be on what service from my mates in the depot to film that bit, nice to tie in advertisement liveries with the old ones. If Ilford Road was included I would have included my footage of the newest advertisement livery (4084) on the platform two service just like your yellow and brown one!

Its okay, it was well worth making in the end :)

    Alex
