@Theafgstar1 I know they would die if you release them into the wild after brought up in captivity. But i'm saying it's a bit down hearting seeing Wild British Birds kept as pets in small cages in other countries. Pet birds should be kept in an aivary at least, it's cruel to keep them in a small cage all the time. Or at least let them fly round your house for a bit.

@hstadam94 they will die they were born in captivity

@Theafgstar1 What are you talking about? I said they are Wild Birds in the UK and it's quite strange and down hearting to see them in a cage.

@hstadam94 they wll die the first second if they are free by honey eaters magpies even bird the size of them

It's strange to see a European Goldfinch in a cage.. When here in the UK they are wild and free, and visit my garden evryday to feed off niger seeds.

You got a good one there. Nice song. The goldfinch is my favorite of the song birds. Par Siskins (Sho Lin)
i'm always surprised to see comments like "let the thing go" or "oh it's so much better in freedom" get a life get to know these birds before you just talk non sense, these are born in captivity and would not survive in a wild. So get a grip and leave us, bird lovers alone!

@Velasca sorry, they don't.
on males, the red/orange mask extends to the eyes or further, giving them more colour, when compared to the female whose mask stops half past the eye. the females have a dull brown/black colour on the shoulder of their wings and the males have pure black.
