My name is Hugh Robert Charles Innes and I am 31 years old. My family and I have gone through the worst times a family can go through only second to a death. And that is the loss of your home and everything you know which happened in 1995. I grew up on a 22,000 acre Brahman cattle stud which is the fourth oldest registered brand of cattle in Australia.

I think things will get worse on our great continent due to climate change unless people start to listen. This means no money, loss of livelihoods and family homes, depression and even suicide. This is where my poems come into play. As global warming must be taken seriously my words are from the heart and are true. Man must stop yawning the earth has never had a population density like now which means greater problems, man must stop yawning.

  • from the brink.

we stare motionless into the abyss

there is no sanctuary for the destroyers of worlds.

we shed no tears,we have none .

    we ask no forgiveness

    we simply wait

  • I got in contact with University of Queensland RFC, where Hugh played rugby until a year ago. He confirmed to me that it was the Hugh I was looking for and told me that the club still had his details and would contact him for me to get us back in touch, but I never heard anything more about it. That's as close as I got.

Hugh lived in England between 2004 and 2006. He was a close family friend but we somehow lost contact when he returned to Oz and we'd love to get back in contact with him.

  • @JamesTheSuperBlue

  • hi thanks for the kind words.ive never written a poem before so its nice to hear that .all the best .luke

  • Does anybody have a contact email address for Hugh? My family and I used to know him when he lived in England, but we lost contact when he moved back to Australia.

  • I'm pleased to see that members of communities affected by climate change find new voices, including those of poems, and new channels, including Climate Witness, to tell the world how climate change is disrupting our lives! Well done Hugh.
