  • Hi Davie

    Really nice pattern!

Could you recommend a substitute for the UV frogs hair dubbing for this fly?

Just starting out tying and i have not got access to that particular material.

Thanks Davie for some brilliant videos.

    Matt

  • Hi Matt,

Just use whatever dubbing you have it doesn't make a huge difference to the fly...Glad you like the videos....

    All the best Davie

  • great video davie what type of whip finisher do you use

  • Hi hearts52,

The whip finisher that I use is called a Matarelli, I feel it's one of the best out there...

    All the best Davie

  • @SPIDER100K Hi I think I could help here, Squirrel is as you have found out, a slick SOB, I find it works best of you tie small bunches in instead of one big clump, varnishing between bunches and tying the thread down on top to force the varnish into the fibres as it stops the whole lot from slipping out, works well for winging flies, as it's quite stiff and has some good movement.... Cheers

  • Great pattern! Thank you for sharing your vieuw on tying with us. I love the calm way yoiu do things and the beautiful vieuws you show us at the start and end of your video's. You've got a fan in me!
